Leading up to Hurricane Helen hitting Southern Appalachia on Friday, September 27th, Western North Carolina and East Tennessee suffered record rainfall that coupled with the hurricane rain created flash flooding and landslides the area has never seen before.
While Asheville has been all over the news, below is a non-exhaustive list of towns that had catastrophic damage that will take years to repair and lifetimes to forget.
